IN 1975 I missed the opportunity to vote in the membership referendum on remaining in the European Community, in which only 25 million voted.

However, I was unaware of the referendum taking place and as recently unaware of the necessity to register online to be able to vote in the forthcoming referendum on June 23.

It appears the government has spent considerable amounts on a system that not everyone is aware of, or has the online facilities to participate in.

Surely, this does not achieve a democratic or fair result?

I cannot understand what was wrong with the electoral register, to which most of the population is participant.

A referendum is a method of referring a question or set of questions to the entire electorate directly.
