AT the Tory Party conference held in Manchester David Cameron made the most astonishing speech I’ve heard in my life.

It was about tackling the country’s deepest social problems of poverty, lack of opportunity, discrimination and extremism.

He applauds British values which I support but he does so from a position of national chauvinism.

For his party to become the champions of the working people would be wonderful – but it needs to happen first.

I believe in the reform of people who are mending their ways but the Conservative Party would need to be born again, a proposition of some Christians, mainly Baptists.

As for his swipe at Jeremy Corbyn I am sure this authentic man will ignore it as I do to those who have sought to insult me.

A one nation party is a wonderful idea and it was first thought of by a Conservative.

To be fair to the Tories they have, in the past, really tried (I think of Harold Macmillan).

However, for David Cameron to wear that title would require a personality replacement. Medical procedures have not reached this stage yet.

I’m not leaving the Labour Party, with all its faults, to join his crusade.
