LISTENING to and reading the comments on the steel crisis, especially on Teesside, one can understand the frustrations of several commentators.
The writing has been on the wall for several months for the Redcar blast furnace at Redcar.
Hence, one sincerely hopes that what is happening now is not too little too late. Several people with a manufacturing background have kept beating the drum for a UK Integrated Industrial Strategy.
I’m not sure if anyone is listening though.
George Dunning, Teesside steelworker 1964-2001
