FURTHER to the Redcar and Cleveland Borough Council Cabinet Report on the options relating to the Boosbeck abattoir to be voted on July 7 (Echo, June 30).
Village resident Marlene Brown is correct to remind people that previous council leaders, myself included, stated that an an abattoir should not be in the middle of any high street.
Out of the five options in the report the cabinet could close the abattoir at a cost of £4m. That is the option I would recommend as I did before the election.
This is a perfect opportunity to put an end to the Boosbeck blight by closing the abattoir.
George Dunning, Ormesby.
