AS a former chairman and director of Evolution I cannot stand by and see its demise (Echo, June 23) being focussed on the chief executive, Karen Grundy.

It is entirely up to Evolution and its board to refute and correct figures randomly bandied about in reports and in the press and I trust this is underway together with support for their chief executive.

Karen and I took over the reins of Evolution some ten years ago when the turnover was £90,000 per annum. A lot of hard work, many tears and a supportive board took the business turnover to £500,000.

Evolution was eventually recognised as a beacon infrastructure organisation in the North-East.

When chairman I had only one business issue with Karen, she never said no or refused a request for Evolution support when needed.

Perhaps there was another issue which was her belief in people and their integrity.

There is much more behind the demise of Evolution not just a chief executive.
