Yorkshire boundary
TIM BROWN says that Harry Mead " is mistaken to imply that Thornaby was ever in the North Riding of Yorkshire" (HAS, June 19).
I had a quick check of the Census of 1851, 1881, and 1911, and they all record Thornaby as being in the North Riding of Yorkshire.
