THE village of Botton, in North Yorkshire, is a unique community. It consisting of those less fortunate than ourselves whom, without the love and compassion shown by those of a special nature who live and work alongside them, would never have been able to feel wanted and part of a caring society ever again.
Residents have lived and worked with volunteers who shared homes in the community and acted as a family unit.
But the trust which runs Botton told residents last year that co-workers were to be replaced by paid staff because of tax reasons.
However, some residents and a group campaigning on their behalf felt this would change the philosophy of Botton forever and have been fighting to reject the changes.
For once, we all need to support this haven in a world full of hatred and killings.
This one small once peaceful haven will be destroyed for ever and lives left in tatters.
Why try to fix something that isn't broken? Three cheers for Botton.
John Cumberland, Rushyford.
