I ATTENDED Bishop Auckland General Hospital last week and the service and facilities were excellent. I consider that it is the best NHS hospital in our area.
Despite an online petition to Gordon Brown and strong public concerns we still lost the A&E department to the University of North Durham Hospital.
We now know that the Durham A&E facility is overstretched and the NHS are looking at extending this hospital, at a cost of £20m.
They obviously did not do their homework to allow for our growing population.
Why should people in Weardale have to travel the extra distance to Durham? The extra travel time could be vital.
