WHY is the NHS intending to spend multi-millions of pounds on A&E units at Durham and Darlington – even funding the new Durham building under the PFI scheme – when there is a new A&E at Bishop Auckland, which was also built under the PFI scheme (Echo, Mar 27).
These people must not know that Bishop Auckland exists. The hospital here is practically new and a good half of it is not used.
The NHS must have millions of pounds to waste.
A Clarke, Bishop Auckland.
