I AGREE totally with Peter Jefferies’ letter (HAS, Mar 20) about the apparent lack of interest from the police and parking enforcement officers regarding parking on pavements.
I live in a road that has just been designated a resident permit zone and now have to pay to park outside my own house.
Anyone parking without a permit gets a ticket from a parking attendant who tours the area several times a day on his scooter.
To get to my road, he must travel along Framwellgate Moor Front Street, but seems to ignore cars and vans parked on the path opposite the shops or on white chevrons adjacent to the zebra crossing. I have also seen cars parked in the Market Place while people run to the cash point or into shops.
We need a consistent approach to this problem.
