EVEN though the band first got together at school in 1976, it's hard to believe that this year marks the 35th Anniversary of the release of the debut single and album by Bad Manners.
The world will always fondly remember the on-stage lunacy and music that Buster Bloodvessel, Louis Alphonso, Brian Tuitt, Martin Stewart, David Farren, Paul Hyman, Alan Sayag, Andy Marson and Chris Kane gave to the globe with their mouth-watering recipe of ska, R&B and pop, which was sometimes seasoned with a hint of dub for added pleasure.
Between 1980 and 1983, the band enjoyed a dozen hit singles in the UK with numbers that includes Lip Up Fatty, My Girl Lollipop and Special Brew.
I found it a great pleasure to dance to their anthems at primary school discos and, later, at their concerts, too.
Bad Manners certainly brought an appetizing dish to the top table of pop in the 1980s.
Happy anniversary, chaps, but please don't overdo it on the tequila.
