WITH the General Election almost upon us when Ukip could finally win seats and get a voice, Channel 4 gives an hour to misrepresent our party as racist and economically naive with Monday night’s docudrama ‘Ukip: The first 100 days’.

By using this format it has probably attracted more attention than, for example, Question Time, and didn’t have to bother with being fair or truthful.

I have been a member of Ukip for several years. I do not recognise the party they portrayed, vindictively obsessed with immigration.

Like the majority of Ukip supporters, I am motivated by a serious concern for our democracy and shocked and angered by its weakening over the years, due to membership of the European Union.

We have seen British business stifled and our exports restricted, betrayed by the political establishment enamoured of the EU’s political job opportunities.

Because we believe the only peaceful way to express our concern is through the ballot box, we have struggled for years to develop our party into a viable choice for the electorate, with sensible policies in all areas from transport to health, education to the environment.

Hopefully everyone will realise what a ridiculously distorted presentation this was.
