THE media seems preoccupied with saving the planet and alternatives forms of energy, but it would appear to me that not enough research has been carried out to explore the potential of wind power.

It would seem to me that if somehow the side-effect energy produced by the consumption of mushy peas, especially in Lancashire and Derbyshire, could be harnessed, then the North of England would be largely self-sufficient in energy.

It might even be that we could export our flatulence to the deprived South.

I can personally testify to the potential; years ago my family always had mushy peas with Sunday lunch and our dog, perhaps sensing the occasion, would hide under the sideboard for the afternoon.

He was actually quite discerning as, during the afternoon, a knee high mist would form in the living room, similar to that portrayed in the grimpen mire featured in many a Hammer horror film.

I’m thinking of applying for a Government grant but I don’t want to trumpet too many details yet.
