IF Mr Farage is going to be successful in forcing an EU referendum in the next few months, can we have two questions on our ballot paper here please not just one?

When Northern Ireland was created, three counties of Ulster went with the Irish Free State and six went into Northern Ireland.

This process was determined in part at least by local people voting about which country they were to be in.

As the people of Scotland decide on September 18 whether to go independent, the people of the border country should be given a say in which country they want to be part of too.

If the people of Scotland decide to stay in the UK, this process should happen anyway to see if any parts of Northern England want to join the devolved Scottish Parliament and share in the benefits.

The border was constantly switching around before the union, Berwick changing hands many times. Hadrian’s Wall runs right through the centre of Newcastle. All the land as far south as the river Tees was once conceded by King John to his sonin- law, the King of Scotland Alexander II.
