CONGRATULATIONS to Darlington Chrysanthemum and Dahlia Society for putting on such a magnificent show of flowers in St Cuthbert’s Hall on August Bank Holiday.

The hall was full of flowers, all up to national standards, a kaleidoscope of colour that brightened a dull day.

Visitors came in and out of the dull, flowerless streets of Darlington to witness a huge display of flowers in a beautiful array of colours that had come from Darlington and surrounding areas.

Darlington has won praise and prizes in the past for its floral displays but nothing could compare with this spectacular show.

Don’t despair if you missed it. The show of flowers returns to Bondgate Methodist Church Hall on Saturday, September 13, and once again you will see a display of flowers that will give you great pleasure.

And there is still more to come. When most of the flowers are dead and plants are withering, Bondgate Hall comes alive on Saturday, November 9, with greenhouse flowers.

Thanks to Darlington C&D Society for keeping Darlington at the forefront of floral displays and all on the basis of a charity.

JW Kidd, Darlington.
