I AGREE with John Cumberland’s recent comments about teachers and, like him, am baffled as to why teachers moan so much.

I know John and know how hard he worked in a tough industry which most of us, including teachers , would find a shock to the system.

Recently, I heard several teaching union leaders saying that teachers are working 60 hours a week.

Analysing that figure we get , for example, 9am to 7pm Monday to Saturday – and that’s without a minute’s break.

This is an insult to our intelligence, and to those who may really be working 60 hours a week, but without the luxury of three months holiday a year.

My late father was a teacher and he could never understand why teachers moaned so much .
