LOOK, we don’t know how Peaches Geldof died. No one knows yet. So stop making things up.
All we can be sure of is that a doting young mother has died suddenly. Desperate for her children, husband and family.
But that hasn’t stopped people who know no more than we do and haven’t a clue why she died, making wild guesses, dragging up every aspect of her past, coming up with theories based on no evidence whatsoever, and turning it all into a cross between character assassination and sickly sentimentality.
Once upon a time we tried not to intrude on private grief.
Once upon a time we tried not to speak ill of the dead.
Now all’s fair in love, death and celebrity culture. What an unpleasant nation we are becoming.
