It is no secret that The Northern Echo and Darlington Football Club have not always enjoyed the best of relationships.

In the surreal days of George Reynolds, it all turned positively nasty.

I am, therefore, delighted that the new name of the stadium in Neasham Road has this afternoon been unveiled as The Northern Echo Darlington Arena.

Darlington FC is an important part of the local community and I hope the sponsorship of the stadium is viewed as a clear demonstration of our support for the club.
