This week I attended the AGM of the Durham Association of Clubs for Young People at Ramside Hall to witness some very inspiring people receiving awards.
This is the third time I have attended this event and I never cease to be amazed at how well young people across the old boundaries of County Durham are performing in the field of sporting and leisure activities.
Several of the young people had excelled in several categories of their chosen sport on a national basis and it was very heartwarming to see the look of pride on their parents faces as they came up to collect their medals and trophies and have their photo taken with President, Frank Nicholson.
Well done to all of them and also to David Lumley who celebrated 60 years of volunteering for the organisation - a magnificent milestone.
