YOUR report in today’s Echo (Dec 6) advises me that the Darlington’s chief executive officer is retiring. I am pleased that redundancy was not mentioned as that often means a nice little extra leaving package.

The job is being given an impressive new title but a new managing director role is being created.

Your report was a very full one but you did not mention what remuneration the pair were going to be on.

They both should remember they are not involved in the Brexit negotiations so now is the time to introduce a sensible salary for them both. This should be less than the Prime Minister. They are only in charge of Darlington and I mean no disrespect to Darlington.
