I DON’T think 900,000 passengers a year will leave Newcastle Airport and travel to Edinburgh to save on this air passenger duty if it ever comes into force (Echo Aug 8).

I know people who travel to Manchester because some flights are cheaper than Newcastle – but in all honesty whatever the saving is, be it large or small or even any at all, is it really worth the hassle of a 300-mile round trip to either airport, in most cases the day before and stopping at a pricey airport hotel overnight to be sure of catching the flight the next day?
