I AGREE with Malcolm Neesam that neither of the main political parties wants Brexit to go ahead (HAS, June 21).

One year on from the referendum and they are still dithering and using a variety of delay tactics, with Brexit being blamed for any hiccough in the economy along the way.

There is no such thing as a soft Brexit or a hard Brexit.

These are terms that have been created by Remain supporters who refuse to accept the result of the referendum.

As the EU itself stated on day one: “No cherry-picking; you are either in or out.”

The so-called “Soft Brexit” involves membership of the Single Market and Customs Union, with all of the associated rules regarding free movement of goods, services and people, and restrictions on trade with the rest of the world, along with any arbitration going to the European Courts. In other words, “Soft Brexit” equals “Remain”.

It seems that any opinion in the rest of the country is irrelevant, but if London had voted in favour of Brexit, we would be out by now!
