THE Grenfell Tower block fire is the most horrific thing I have ever seen on the news.

The most important thing right now is helping the victims of the disaster. We must also understand why it happened and prevent a similar tragedy from happening again.

Since the Conservatives came into power in 2010, albeit in a coalition, they have set about decimating public services. The cuts have been over-zealous, and unnecessary in their extent.

In recent times, we have tragically witnessed why we need our public services to be more resourceful than how the Tories have left them.

If our security services had more manpower, they could have prevented some of the jihadi attacks that have got through; and if better laws were in place the extent of the Grenfell Tower disaster could have been averted.

Unscrupulous landlords are a fact of life, and tenants need the right protection. The Grenfell Tower disaster will be this Tory government’s legacy.

Theresa May has demonstrated very poor judgement in recent times. Her poor response to the Grenfell Tower disaster is an example of this.

We can look forward to more setbacks when Theresa May enters Brexit talks.
