What was your first car?

I drove a Triumph TR7 and what a car it was! It looked great, but was always breaking down. Sometimes it would take two days to get from Liverpool to London.

How many times did it take to pass your test, who taught you and what in?

I luckily passed first time - It was my Dad who taught me in a Ford Cortina. He was a sales rep for a timber firm and I learnt by driving him to each woodyard - most of the time at record speed!

Who would be your ideal fantasy passenger and where would you go?

I would love to drive Ricky Gervais, in my car, through Manchester and ask him to do a running commentary on the people we pass - hysterical.

What is your dream car?

I don’t have a dream car - I like all cars. They are a masterpiece of modern technology and invention. I sometime stare at traffic in admiration and wonder how we got this far so quickly.

How would you describe your driving style?

I drive tough. I am the Vinnie Jones of driving. I do not suffer fools, careless driving or speeding idiots. It’s my space - do not invade it.

Tell me one driving anecdote from your past?

I live in Hampshire and drove to London for a charity dinner. I was approaching the elevated section of the M4 and changed lanes - as I did I looked in the rear view mirror to see my cat sitting upright on the back shelf watching the traffic! It had fallen asleep on the back seat. I left her in the car - did the gig and drove home!

What is playing on your in car iPod or CD player at the moment and why?

Nothing - I hate music whilst I’m driving. It’s odd but I drive everywhere in silence and occasionally switch on the radio - solely for the news.

What do you drive now and why?

Hyundai Santa Fe - love it. After driving nearly all makes of car over the years I wanted an eco-friendly vehicle. I do a lot of miles each year and look for comfort as well as enough room to take all my gear for my work.
