Grown Up Grandad back at Stockton

Gordon Steel is bringing Grow Up Grandad back to Stockton's Arc for a week-long run (Monday, September 5 to Saturday, September 10), and then will be taking the play on a small Northern tour including the Bishop Auckland Town Hall, on

Wednesday, Setpember 21, plus Custom’s House in South Shields, Whitby Pavilion and Carriage Works Theatre in Leeds. The script has just been published by a London based arts publisher.

Steelworks theatre’s Grow Up Grandad premiered at Arc last autumn and received an incredible response from audiences across Teesside, who flocked to the week long run of performances.

Grow Up Grandad is about a troubled teen named Poppy and her grumpy grandfather who are both forced to live together when trouble arises in their family. The pair clash initially, but slowly learn to appreciate each other’s differences before some shocking truths are revealed.

The lead role of Poppy will once again be shared by Teesside school girls, Eliza Dobson and Rose Allen, who were just 13 and 12 respectively when they starred in the play last year.

Gordon, who lives in Eaglescliffe, has mentored hundreds of the region’s aspiring actors while at Stockton Youth Theatre including Jill Halfpenny, Daniel Casey, Mark Benton and Simeon Truby, who is returning to star as the cantankerous Grandad.

Box Office: 01642-525199 or arconline.co.uk The performance on September 5 will be BSL interpreted and the September 6 show will be followed by a Q & A with Gordon Steel and the performers.
