Est Valley Theatre summer concert

IT’S all happening at Esk Valley Theatre with a great season lined up and a grant of £11,500 from Arts Council England to help support the Glaisdale Village venture.

This August will see the company produce the comedy All Things Considered by Ben Brown. It has a cast of six; a budget of £52,000 and will be the largest show the theatre has produced.

The arts grant is great news for the theatre, but even if the company get full houses for every performance it will still leave EVT short of it’s target of £52,000 to break even. However, with support from local sponsors and a number of fundraising events, everything is heading in the right direction.

One supporter is Chris Harris who lives in Halifax and is the driving force behind the seven-piece swing band Jump, Jive ‘n’ Wail. They are coming to Danby Village Hall on Saturday, June 13, at 8pm to help raise funds for the theatre. This will be a third visit by the band who play music from the 1930s, 1940s and 1950s. There will be an opportunity to learn a short easy dance routine at the start of the evening, but if dancing isn’t your thing, then simply come and listen to some great music, enjoy a drink and support the theatre. Period dress is optional.

n Tickets cost £12.50, which includes a ration bag supper. Tickets are available from Danby, Lealholm and Glaisdale Village Shops, or you can call the EVT box office on 01947-897587
