SCOTTISH star Kenny Anderson, aka King Creosote, has had a rough time of it since the success of his collaboration with Jon Hopkins on Diamond Mine.

His Fence Records compadre Johnny Lynch, also known as The Pictish Trail, left to form Lost Map Records and took some of their bands with him. However, you can’t keep a great man down, and From Scotland With Love, the soundtrack to a new film of Scottish archive material, is yet another triumphant delight from the ultra-prolific folk singer-songwriter. Featuring new material and reworkings of some of his best songs, the definite highlight is Pauper’s Dough, in which the lyrics, “You’ve got to rise above the gutter you are inside” build to a tear-jerking crescendo.
