THERE are some albums that should just not be reworked and Pink Floyd’s Legendary Dark Side of the Moon is perhaps one.
The original was off the wall, but remained accessible, but this version by the normally reliably entertaining Flaming Lips is a step too far.
Some of the songs are vaguely reminiscent of the 1973 classic, but the majority are about as far removed as you can get.
Rather than being a homage to a musical milestone, this album unfortunately only serves to sully its memory. It is self-indulgent and in parts unlistenable.
