AFTER the musical brilliance of the Summertyne Americana Festival held last weekend at The Sage Gateshead, more news has been announced that will bring cheers to many country appreciators.
Already having had many guests from the US appearing not only at the Fest but throughout the year so far with appearances from Glen Campbell, Gretchen Peters, Suzy Bogguss, Elizabeth Cook and Rosanne Cash, the Sage now announces an appearance by Mary Chapin Carpenter with support act Tift Merrit.
As one of the great modern female songwriters to emerge in the Nineties, Mary C already has credibility under her belt, having received five Grammys, and has the distinction of being the only artist to have won four consecutive Grammy awards for the Best Female Country Vocal Performance which she received between 1992 and 1995.
She has just released her tenth studio album after having to take a break from her music during 2007 due to her suffering a pulmonary embolism.
She appears at The Sage Gateshead on Thursday, November 4. Tickets are available from the box office by calling 0191-443-4661.
