MADINA LAKE are an alternative rock scremo foursome from Chicago. They’ve embarked on a UK tour, referred to as the Arlene Ball, intended to support their new EP, the Dresden Codex.

The title refers to a Mayan astrological codex, one of the oldest existing, as it is thought to be a copy of an even older text. This holds with Madina Lake’s tradition of bringing astrology into their back-story, known colloquially as The Folklore.

Madina Lake put a great amount of energy and passion into their performance, and to say their set was energetic was an understatement.

Vocalist Nathan Leone won the crowd over with a combination of a great voice, and a determination to cover every inch of the stage while also high-fiving the entire front row with a real passion and gratitude for the applause his band receives.

While his brother and bassist, Matthew, is all over the place, literally bouncing off the walls.

Every song was delivered with exquisite precision and accuracy. Hit singles One Last Kiss and House Of Cards were the crowd-pleasers and everyone was head-bobbing and moshing to the loud bass and drum.

Their songs fuse the forceful guitars of heavy metal with crisp harmonies, electronic accents, and the melodic concepts of indie rock.

One of their closing songs, Welcome to Oblivion, conversely points to only one type of future for Madina Lake – a very bright one.
