ARCHITECTS are an English metalcore band from Brighton, with influences ranging from Mastodon through Shadows Fall to the Dillinger Escape Plan.

They play a complex mixture of metalcore punk. Their music is pumped with controlled rage and unhindered heart; it’s accessible and ambitious, but aggressive and beautiful.

We’re All Alone, with its technical guitar work and heavy beat downs, mesmerized the crowd and soon the circle pit was swirling.

Vocalist Sam Carter lashes his throat with passion, with high-pitched screaming and notes of clean vocals.

Buried at Sea and You’ll Find Safety have heavy, offbeat grooves with a hardcore side, while Follow the Water has a distinct melodic sound.

Architects have really hit creative gold and, by diversifying their sound to be slightly more accessible, they have definitely developed.

Throughout their set there were hints of Alexisonfire and Pantera, and it was clear the band are influenced by other musical collaborations like themselves.

Guitarists Tom Searle and Tim HB kept to the pattern of heavy distortion and punkstyled riffs layered with a little melody on top, which makes Architects that little bit special.

The band built up the atmosphere gradually to a climax on the last song, when the crowd flew into a rage of head bopping and moshing.

Architects have developed into a well-rounded band, taking their prior influences and embellishing them into their own sound.
