IF your taste is bluegrass music and you missed out the first time round when Steve Earle joined up with the legendary Del McCoury band, then you’ll be interested to know that a 1999 album is now available again.

The ground-breaking album sees Earle wind his way through 14 tracks of brilliant numbers assisted by some of the best bluegrass pickers in the world. Guests include EmmyLou Harris, Iris Dement, Marty Stuart and Peter Rowan. Entitled The Mountain, it is available on the New West record label. Another stockfiller is Michelle Wright’s A Wright Christmas (Savannah Music/Proper). This award-winning artist takes on a new interpretation of some of the Christmas classics and includes one of the best versions I’ve heard of Go Tell It On The Mountain. Daniel O Donnell’s latest release goes back to his country routes.

Country Boy includes Roger Miller’s King Of The Road, through to Don Gibson’s Oh Lonesome Me, interspersed with a couple of guest appearances by Loretta Lynn and Charley Pride. The 20- track release is available on DMG/TV. Happy Christmas shopping.
