Chemicalize With It!, which started out as a 30-second commission for an advert, is an early sign of a more synth-led direction which continues in the ELO-sounding The Ballad Of Mr. Steak. Carry On Phenomenon is also reminiscent of Jeff Lynne’s prog rockers while loop-driven Hahaha Pt. 1 is another strong track. Although Kishi Bashi’s violin mastery is evident on every track, his virtuosity shines through on extended closer In Fantasia.
