I FIRST came across Billy Currington’s music a few year ago when I was presenting the Smooth Country show on Smooth Radio. Whenever I hear his name, I automatically relate to one of his songs called People Are Crazy, which impressed my so much that I named it song of the year.

It’s been three year since his last release, but it has been worth the wait because the first single taken from it, called Hey Girl, is already at number two in the Billboard Country Airplay Charts.

To date, Currington has notched up seven number one singles and this album offers many more. It’s ten tracks have a feelgood factor throughout, with an eclectic mix of sounds and great songs including his fellow surfers Jack Johnson’s Banana Pancakes song and a tongue-incheek number called It’s Hard To Be A Hippie, where he is joined by Wille Nelson.

Currington says: “I wanted to keep the album positive, and if you are singing along to the lyrics with a smile then I feel I have accomplished something, I think the album will make people happy.”

I couldn’t agree more.
