GORDON Brown has added to its family law team with the appointment of a family law solicitor.

Karen Henry joins the family team heading up the child care unit, providing advice for parents and children’s guardians in respect of care proceedings.

The child care team also advises family members including advice on issues such as residence and contact following the separation of parents.

She will join the family law team at Gordon Brown’s Chester-le-Street office, but will also spend some of her time in the Newcastle branch.

Prior to joining Gordon Brown Law Firm, she was a partner at Mulchay-Smith, in Gateshead, where she undertook all aspects of family work. She has practised family law for nearly 20 years.

Ian Lawson, head of the family unit at the law firm, said: “Karen has hit the ground running here at Gordon Brown Law Firm.

She has the experience and knowledge and has quickly become a key member of the team.

“Child care is an important area and it’s good to have someone with Karen’s pedigree on board.

“It is essential that we continue to invest in our family department by recruiting well-trained enthusiastic people. We continually strive to enhance the firm’s strength, and ongoing recruitment and expansion to ensure we can deliver an even better service to our clients.”
