Hailing from Darlington, Hayley McKay is an extraordinarily gifted singer/songwriter with an amazing voice who has immersed herself in music and the performing arts throughout her young life. 

In 2011 Hayley won a national competition that funded a scholarship to study vocals at The Brighton Institute of Modern Music (BIMM). From there she graduated to an artist development course in London with Access to Music whose former alumni includes Rita Ora, Jesse Glynne and Ed Sheeran. 

Still just 25, 2016 has been a big year for Hayley. Not only has she started to make a reputation for herself as ‘one to watch’ with outstanding performances at renowned London music venues such as The Troubadour, Ronnie Scott’s, The Half Moon, The Bedford and the O2 Academy Islington, Hayley has played a number of high profile gigs.

Travels with a Sketchbook, Head of Steam, Darlington

An exhibition of sketchbooks and drawings by Rita Smith. Drawing and travel are important factors of Rita Smith’s practice and over many years and miles, these hidden drawings go on public display for the first time.

The Northern Echo: Wild daffodil walk, Farndale on Saturday, 10am 

Classic spring walk in the so-called Daffodil Dale to see Farndale's wild daffodils. It's a straightforward three and a half mile linear route alongside the enchanting River Dove, from Low Mill to Church Houses and back. Darlington Piano Society, recital by the French pianist Amandine Savary, Dolphin Centre, Darlington, on Sunday, 3-5pm

Darlington Piano Society ends its highly successful season with a recital by the French pianist Amandine Savary. After graduated with honours in France (Caen Conservatory - Normandy), Amandine joined the Royal Academy of Music of London in 2003, gaining her BMus diploma in 2007 and a Masters Concert Project Degree with distinction. She is now an Associate of the Royal Academy of Music. 

In September 2015 she took up a teaching post at the Royal Academy and brings us a programme of works by Clara and Robert Schumann, inspired by each other through their passionate friendship which transformed into a deep love. Tickets on 01325-388406.
