AN ambitious teenager says he’s on the road to a successful career after starting an apprenticeship with a motoring firm.

Daniel Johnson, from Eaglescliffe, near Stockton, has joined Jennings Motor Group’s apprenticeship programme.

The 18-year-old is on a one-year scheme focusing on the firm’s parts department, which includes its service and body shop departments, stock control and order processing.

He will be based at Jennings’ Cargo Fleet Lane site, in Middlesbrough.

The company operates Ford, Kia, Seat, Mazda and Mitsubishi dealerships across the region.

Mr Johnson said he was initially keen to pursue a career in electrical engineering, but after a change of heart, took advantage of his passion for motors.

He said: “I was really keen to find an apprenticeship because it gives you the opportunity to learn valuable skills, work towards additional qualifications and earn a wage.

“I couldn’t believe my luck when I visited the apprenticeship website and saw the vacancy at Jennings.”

Kevin Gibbon, group parts manager, added: “We are a company committed to the apprenticeship programme initiative.

“Daniel is one of many youngsters embarking on various schemes across the group.”
