A CONSTRUCTION firm has reiterated its commitment to young workers after helping more apprentices through their training.

Gus Robinson Developments, in Hartlepool, has seen 21-year-old electricians Stevie Whitehouse and Dominic Laffin complete NVQ electrical installation qualifications.

The company has a proud record of nurturing youngsters, with more than a quarter of its workforce having started as trainees or apprentices.

It has already offered terms to four more trainee electricians.

Mr Whitehouse, from Hartlepool, said: “We've been here for three years and it's been great to get practical experience while completing our qualifications on things like construction sites, commercial properties and schools.”

Bosses say the business, which specialises in domestic and commercial construction projects, has taken on hundreds of apprentices in its 38-year history.

Its latest recruit to rise through the ranks is 26-year-old trainee estimator Danny Guffick, who started as an apprentice electrician.

Mr Guffick has completed an HNC qualification in electrical engineering and is now working towards a degree in the subject at Teesside University.

Dave Cutler, electrical manager at Gus Robinson Developments, added: “It's fantastic that we are able to develop and progress so many promising young people.”
