A PIECE of eye-catching artwork depicting Saltburn's smuggling heritage has been unveiled following a project involving a local school.

The joint project was between Huntcliff School students, Turning the Corner (TTC), local traders and UK Steel Enterprise.

Seven Year 10 students from the school have been involved in the TTC-led initiative, part-funded by UK Steel Enterprise, to create a colourful mosaic featuring a coastal scene to enhance the exterior of seafront businesses located at the Saltburn Foreshore.

The students have been busy creating the 4ft by 10ft artwork over the past four months, working in consultation with the Foreshore Community Group consisting of several local traders. Local community artists Helen Gaunt and Derek Mosey offered their professional expertise to produce the impressive piece of artwork which has been created from a combination of glass, steel and wood. As part of the project the students were also required to peer mentor younger pupils from Saltburn Primary School to enhance their coaching and teamwork skills.
