NEW North-East business Pet Artwork expects to be a big hit this Christmas with pet owners thanks to its colourful portraits of cats and dogs.
Louise Faith and Emily Ward combined their business skills and art experience to launch the Newcastle-based venture last month.
Ms Ward, a renowned local artist, knew there was a market for modern pet art after being approached by owners who wanted canvas portraits of their pets.
Business partner Mrs Faith said: "We’re seeing a real demand for modern portraits. Not everyone wants a traditional portrait on their wall, so we decided to offer pet owners an alternative; something big, bold and fun."
Neale Patterson, of North Shields commissioned Pet Artwork to paint two pet portraits, his springer spaniel and his daughters shih tzu. He said: "The portraits look amazing on our wall and really capture the dogs personalities."
With custom portraits and a gift range which includes pug cushions, spaniel prints and labrador clocks, Pet Artwork is looking forward to a busy festive period.
