A LAW firm has strengthened its team after appointing a new partner.

Muckle, in Newcastle, has welcomed George Festing to its dispute resolution group.

Mr Festing has a wealth of experience in resolving intellectual property (IP) disputes for national and international clients on copyright and trade mark infringement.

Bosses say his arrival means companies no longer have to look to London to resolve complex IP contractual issues.

Originally from Hexham, Northumberland, Mr Festing studied at Durham University before heading to London where he worked for 11 years.

Qualifying as a litigator with The Simkins Partnership, now known as Michael Simkins, he moved to Forbes Anderson Free in 2005, a practice specialising in litigation, arbitration and dispute resolution.

He said: “I'm thrilled to be working for Muckle, which provides me with a great opportunity to develop the firm's IP dispute resolution practice.

“I was already aware of its reputation for winning complex litigation, so I'm pleased to enhance their capabilities.”

Susan Howe, partner and head of Muckle's dispute resolution group, added: “George's experience and skills in pursuing and resolving IP disputes are extensive and unique to the region.

“He significantly strengthens the ways we can help clients across the North-East, including in sectors such as technology and engineering, where research and development investments and innovations need protecting and defending.”
