JOBS have been created at a North-East accountancy firm following an expansion.

Darlingotn-based accountants and business advisers Christie Proud Thompson is opening a new office at Doxford International Business Park in Sunderland, creating 12 new jobs.

It is also hoped the expansion will lead to more jobs being created in the Darlington office.

The new site will serve Sunderland, Washington, Durham, Seaham and South Tyneside.

Brian Thompson, partner, said: "Our strategy not only involves looking after our existing clients, we also hope to grow our base in Tyne and Wear in the same way that we are successfully growing in the Darlington area.

"Opening a new office in Sunderland is an exciting opportunity. We are looking forward to being part of the business community in the city."

The firm was established in 1995 and has clients in industries including the service sector, construction and retail.

The firm is run by Brian Thompson and Lorna Christie, who collectively have 40 years experience in accountancy.
