A STEEL stockholders in Teesside has been bought by a West Yorkshire company, safeguarding 25 jobs.
Middlesbrough firm Parson & Crosland has been bought by the UK's largest independent steel stockholder, Barrett Steel of Bradford for an undisclosed sum. It will continue to trade as Parson & Crosland.
A statement from Barrett said Parson & Crossland had been struggling to maintain its usual level of customer service and their acquisition would improve customer service and provide new products and services.
Parson & Crosland was founded in 1926 and provides steel which is processed to the exact requirements of customers, including steel beams and columns.
It was acquired by Murray General Steels in 2007 and has continued to operate as an independent business within the Murray Group.
James Barrett, Barrett's managing director, said Parson & Crossland had a long and successful history.
"Barrett Steel is committed to maintaining local ties, supporting employees, customers and the general public.
"We will be taking our lead from customers of the business as to what products and services they require.
"Barrett Steel is committed to investing in its businesses and ensuring that our customers are provided with services that are delivered using the latest innovations in plant and equipment in all areas of the business."
