AROUND 100 jobs are under threat at BAE Systems in Newcastle, as it looks to consolidate operations in its vehicle business.

It emerged today that the defence giant has also started consultation on closing a manufacturing site in Wolverhampton, with the likely loss of 70 jobs.

A further 60 jobs are set to go in other parts of the firm's vehicle business, with the services currently provided at Newcastle and Wolverhampton tobe transferred to Telford during 2011 and early 2012.
