A GYM will create four jobs when it opens this weekend at a new business centre aimed at encouraging fledgling firms to set up in east Cleveland.

The Aspire Corporate Fitness gym opens its doors tomorrow in the B-Hive business centre, on the Skelton Industrial Estate, near Saltburn.

The B-Hive, which provides office and workshop space for new firms, is a private venture, but has received £280,000 towards the £1.5m cost from Redcar and Cleveland Borough Council. All space in the centre had been taken ahead of its opening.

The £100,000 gym is the latest addition to the business support network at the BHive, where companies have support in specialist areas, including accountancy, marketing and mentoring.

It has been set up by Lorraine Smith, 40, who has ten years’ experience in the fitness sector, having been leisure manager with Marriott hotels, and spa and fitness manager at Matfen Hall, in Northumberland.

The project is supported by a £15,000 grant from the Redcar and Cleveland Local Enterprise Growth Initiative.
