A WEB design company has won one major contract and is tendering for five more after changing its strategy to target large-scale projects.

Wow Solutions has secured a deal with London agency Clever Box to deliver online services, beating national competition to get the lucrative contract.

Now, the Durham-based company is bidding to win a further five significant deals after targeting larger-scale contracts to boost its growth, and has taken on three people as a result.

Wow Solutions has been working with Compete North- East, a service designed to help regional businesses bid for and win significant contracts for the 2012 London Olympics and beyond.

The Winning Business campaign, run by The Northern Echo with Compete North- East, encourages firms to take advantage of the help available and to push themselves forward for such lucrative deals.

Wow Solutions attended a Compete North-East Meet the Buyer event at Durham County Cricket Club, in Chester-le- Street, where director Stuart Meyers developed a number of business leads which played a key role in helping the firm to secure and bid for new work.

Mr Meyers said Compete North-East, which is run by Business Link, is a valuable service to businesses such as Wow Solutions, and backed the Winning Business campaign, adding: “The opportunities companies can access through services like Compete North-East are hugely significant in the current economic climate where many businesses need to maximise their potential and develop in a competitive market place.

“The Meet the Buyer event we attended was a great success.

Not only did it make us more aware of the major tender opportunities that are out there, ranging from the London 2012 Olympics to largescale construction projects, it also enabled us to network and build contacts with key decision makers which has since resulted in Wow Solutions winning new business.

“The company is now going from strength to strength. I would recommend other businesses wishing to benefit from major procurement opportunities use the Compete North-East service to find out more.”

Paul Taylor, director of Compete North-East, said: “Wow Solutions is a great example of an up-and-coming North-East company that is enjoying considerable success on the national stage. Their experience at our previous Meet the Buyer event also illustrates what the region’s companies can potentially gain from engaging with us and the tender opportunities we can help to open up.”
