A NORTH-EAST CCTV specialist has won a contract to design and supply a surveillance system for the new Tyne Tunnel.
2020 Vision Systems has won a deal, worth more than £350,000, to design, supply and install the integrated CCTV network ahead of the opening of the river crossing.
The system, which will safeguard more than 38,000 motorists each day, will comprise of 84 CCTV cameras, linked to a network video surveillance system within the north and south-bound tunnels, as well as along the approach roads.
There will also be 11 cameras within the perimeters of the tunnel areas.
North Shields-based 2020 will also install a multicamera management system with digital recording.
Cameras from the existing pedestrian tunnel will also be linked to the recording system.
