A PLUMBING apprentice is receiving extra training after his firm secured £1,200 in funding.
D W Bathrooms, based in Clyde Terrace, Spennymoor, County Durham, received business development assistance from the South Durham Enterprise Agency.
As a result, the owner, Dean Watson, was able to provide training for apprentice John Paul Longthorne, 18, from Spennymoor.
“When you run a small business any help is appreciated, so the support has been really well received,” said Mr Watson.
“John Paul has been on work experience with me for two years now and it’s great that he has the opportunity to learn new skills that are beneficial for both him and the business.”
South Durham Enterprise Agency supports businesses and creates employment opportunities.
Ann Boyd, from the agency, said: “It’s great to see an apprentice doing so well working with a local business.
“It’s an exciting opportunity for John Paul to gain a qualification whilst getting hands-on experience with a busy company like D W Bathrooms.”
