A SMALL garage in North Yorkshire that grew into a Northern haulage industry has won a deal worth more than £460,000.

Specialist equipment supplier Londonderry Garage, based near Northallerton, has completed a contract for the City of York Council for Multilift hooklift equipment.

The five Multilifts in the order, which can be used to carry out general highway maintenance or as spreaders for treating roads in winter, comprise four units mounted on 18-tonne Daf chassis and one mounted on an eightwheel 32-tonne Daf.

The City of York Council has 12 Multilifts using the hooklift system as well as a smaller 6.5-tonne Iveco equipped with a Hiab crane – all of which were supplied by Londonderry Garage during its 20-year supplier relationship.

Chris Slade, fleet manager at the council, said: “It is very useful to have a multi-equipment supplier so near at hand.

In addition, I was impressed with the way Londonderry Garage dealt with this latest order which involved a complicated specification.”
