ABOUT 80 construction workers, most from County Durham, are to benefit from work on a £4.3m project for young people.
Clugston Construction is building The Hub, a centre in Barnard Castle aimed at 13 to 19-year-olds.
The Hub will not only benefit young people living locally, but also many from surrounding areas including Darlington, Bishop Auckland and Richmond.
Along with sport facilities including a skate park, BMX track and a canoeing lake, The Hub will also have a recording studio, spa and dance studios.
The project is being led by the charity Teesdale Community Resources and funded by Myplace, a multi-million pound Government programme.
Clugston Construction’s North- East regional manager Steve Waggett said: “We are extremely pleased to have been chosen to develop such an exciting scheme.
“We are looking forward to building what will become a longterm sustainable world-class facility, not only for the young people of the Teesdale community but the wider community as a whole.”
